Our Story

How a viral moment became a movement

It Started with Two Words

On February 21, 2026, HuffPost published an article suggesting that American pride during the Winter Olympics was something to be embarrassed about. Millions of Americans disagreed — and one business said so out loud.

Jimmy's Famous Seafood — a Baltimore institution run by immigrant brothers Tony and John Minadakis — replied on X with two words that said everything. That post earned 200,000+ likes, 9 million+ views, 255,000 new followers in a single day, and a surge of orders that crashed their website.

A Movement Followed

Within hours, a crowdsourced thread appeared on X listing 129+ proudly American small businesses that people wanted to support. Restaurants, farms, breweries, artisan shops, veteran-owned companies, family businesses — united by a conviction that American entrepreneurship deserves celebration.

The thread was powerful. It was also buried in a social media feed, impossible to search, and gone by the next morning. Americans were ready to act — but had nowhere to go.

A Directory Built for the Movement

Patriot Directory is the organized, searchable, map-first home for these businesses and every American business like them. Every listing tells a real story — who the owners are, why they started, and what they stand for.

We celebrate American entrepreneurship: the farmers, craftspeople, veterans, and immigrants who wake up every morning and build something worth standing behind. This is a directory of businesses to discover, support, and champion.

How Businesses Get Listed

Every business in this directory is hand-curated. We started with the businesses from the viral thread and continue adding businesses that embody the American entrepreneurial spirit. Each listing is verified and given the space to tell its story.
